Recap of Our Brussels DevSecOps & AI Event with GitLab

On October 20, GitLab and Gluo co-hosted an exclusive technical event at the Hotel Indigo Brussels – City. The morning brought together tech leaders to explore how modern enterprises can adopt AI capabilities in their SDLC while maintaining strict data sovereignty and financial control.

The event kicked off with the GitLab team showcasing the different security features of GitLab followed by a deep dive into the GitLab Duo Agent Platform. The technical talks highlighted how GitLab Duo integrates advanced AI directly into software workflows, focusing specifically on automated security scanning. Attendees saw firsthand how AI can surface vulnerabilities, explain risks, and suggest automated remediation steps right inside a merge request—drastically reducing triage time without compromising code security.

Next, Jef Timmermans, a member of Gluo’s engineering team, addressed the compliance challenges faced by regulated sectors such as finance, healthcare, and government. He demonstrated how organizations can run a fully self-hosted GitLab environment on a European sovereign cloud. By connecting this isolated infrastructure to GitLab’s AI Gateway, organizations can integrate AI capabilities into their development workflows while maintaining control over their infrastructure and data.A key highlight of the live demonstration was routing AI traffic through route_33. Currently in beta and developed within De Cronos Groep, route_33 is an EU-hosted AI gateway designed to give enterprises greater control over how AI is accessed and governed. It adds critical layers of governance and financial visibility to enterprise AI adoption:

  • Robust guardrails and governance: Centralized policy enforcement, prompt filtering, and comprehensive audit trails help organizations apply security and governance controls at the infrastructure level.
  • Granular FinOps and cost transparency: Real-time token monitoring provides visibility into AI usage and associated costs, helping teams attribute expenditure to specific development activities or repositories and better understand the business value of their AI investments.

Thank you to the entire GitLab team for making this event possible, and to everyone who joined us in Brussels to explore the future of secure, sovereign AI in software development. We look forward to continuing the conversation!
